Background story – Driving Bassline

Background stories 27/10/2016

When I started working on ‘Driving Bassline’ – it’s been a long time coming – I had just discovered the hypnotizing world of techno. Techno music really takes you on a journey, with deep kicks and rhythmic elements that keep on progressing throughout a track. It really inspired me, and with these vibes in my mind I started with the creation of a new kick.

The kick I created was pretty different compared to the kicks in my other tracks at that time, like ‘Revolution’ and ‘Shake’. Instead of the high-profile distorted kicks, I went with a sound that was easier to blend in the musical spectrum, like the ones in techno, while still maintaining a good punch – that electro / subground characteristic 😉

I really got in the flow after I had finished the kick, and inspiration took over. I wrote down the chords and combined them with a distinctive arpeggiating synth. This sound really represents the hypnotizing and progressive vibe I felt at that moment and before I knew it, all the harmonic elements and structures were in place. Love it when all the pieces come together!

During this process I also came across the vocal, and instantly fell in love. The prophetic words really added that deep and nostalgic spice which matches the feeling of the track. All these elements made the track truly come to life. A deep, rhythmic and harmonic journey through sound as I would call it!

I’m really happy with the track and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. I’m excited to have it released on The Funky Cat, and I can happily tell you there is a lot more stuff coming up soon! 😀

Peace out x

What a wonderful piece of music. I’ve heard it many times now, but I can’t get enough of it! It almost gets you in a trance!
